# Vanilla native C++ source snapshot

This is a source-available snapshot of the restored C++17 interpreter, including the first standard-library expansion. Public branding is Vanilla 2.0; the executable remains vanilla1. This is not a package-manager release or a new license grant. No license terms are invented by this snapshot; retain existing notices and consult the project owner about redistribution rights.

## Build on Linux
Install GCC 13, make, pkg-config, nlohmann-json3-dev, libcurl4-openssl-dev, libsqlite3-dev, libc-ares-dev, libssl-dev, libmariadb-dev and unixodbc-dev. For included tests install Python 3.

    make release
    make test-stdlib
    ./build/vanilla1 run examples/stdlib.v
    make sanitize
    make test-stdlib-sanitize

The Makefile is the unchanged developer Makefile. Its full make test/test-sanitize and integration targets refer to additional maintainer fixtures not included in this curated source distribution. Use the test-stdlib targets above for the included 128-case suite. No private SQL profiles, TLS keys, credentials, binaries, build logs, historical baselines or third-party dependency source are distributed. Dependencies are installed separately.

The restored/ files are rewritten/reconstructed implementation, not immutable historical originals. See docs/LINEAGE.md. docs/STANDARD_LIBRARY.md explains aliases, limits, errors, newly reserved names, byte-oriented text and binary64 (not exact decimal) rounding.

SHA256SUMS covers every included payload file. The website publishes a separate archive checksum. The archive must be unpacked before running make. File/network/DB permissions are capability gates, not a sandbox; do not run untrusted scripts with secrets in their environment.
